More color in kitchens.
White will always be a classic palette for kitchens, as the annual Houzz kitchen trends study continues to show. But its increased popularity means there???s going to be some all-white-kitchen fatigue as homeowners look for ways to personalize their space. So while white kitchens aren???t even close to going away, expect to see a rise in color for the kitchen, especially other neutrals like gray and blue. Plus, warm wood tones are becoming a popular replacement for painted cabinets, leading to sophisticated, rich palettes.

Many still love their shower curtains, but partial glass dividers are coming on strong. Glass shower panels keep compact spaces airy and open, allowing a clear view to a statement shower tile or more natural light.

Defining kitchens in open floor plans.

Whether you’ve got plaster, brick, drywall, concrete, stucco or tile, this guide will help you hang anything and (nearly) everything on your walls hassle free.

Brick
Supplies: Brick Spring Clip, Measuring Tape, and Screw Driver
Steps:
1. Measure size of the wall prior to purchasing a spring clip to determine the size you will need.
2. Place the bottom of the clip at the base of the brick.
3. Push clip against top of brick until it locks in.
4. Hang picture and ensure it will hold weight prior to letting go of the frame.

Tile
Supplies: Cooling Oil, Anchor, Screw, Hammer, Painter???s Tape, Carbide or Diamond Tip Drill Bit, and Power Drill
Steps:
1. Measure and plot point on wall using painter???s tape.
2. Attach chosen drill bit and soak in cooling oil for approximately 5-10 seconds.
3. Start slowly drilling into painter???s tape on tile. Slowly apply light pressure and increase speed until you complete drilling the desired hole length.
4. Hammer in the anchor and drill in screw. Hang picture

Old Paint Cans
Paint cans often are scattered all over the garage once a home improvement project is complete. Paint usually lasts for up to 10 years unopened, and 2-5 years if opened and stored correctly. Depending on your state, there are different laws for disposing of or recycling paint. Check to see if your state has a paint recycling program, or if there???s a waste disposal place near your home where you can drop off the cans.

Remnants of DIY Projects
While you???re clearing cans from old home improvement projects, toss out old materials from DIY projects. ???Almost every garage in America has a flimsy aluminum paint tray coated in house paint, with a matching roller in a crumpled grocery bag,??? Gordon says. ???As homeowners, we like to think we???re going to get more than one use out of our paint brushes, trays, and other DIY tools, but it???s more likely we???ll forget and buy these items again anyway. The only reason to save otherwise disposable DIY tools would be if you have a project in mind that you plan to tackle soon.???
