From the article:

From unfolding apartments to clever remodels to creative rentals, these 10 tiny kitchens show that their owners and designers haven’t just learned to deal with small spaces ??? they’ve embraced them. With solutions including cutting boards on drawers for extra counter space, affordable alternatives to wallpaper and innovative storage, these small kitchens can’t help but inspire.

A Tiny, Makeshift Bakery
Homeowner: Yossy Arefi-Afshar of New York City

Yossy Arefi-Afshar loves to bake, and refuses to let her tiny New York kitchen stop her. Although she’s learned some hard lessons about planning along the way (“I’ll never forget the time I got too ambitious with my menu and ended up doing dishes in the bathtub the next day,” she says), she’s learned to work with what she’s got.

When Arefi-Afshar is working on a big baking project, she simply clears everything off the counters and moves it to another part of the apartment. For some extra surface area, she’ll pull out a drawer or two and place a sheet pan or cutting board on top.

A Food Blogger’s Brooklyn Rental
Homeowner: Cara Eisenpress of Brooklyn, New York

A rental kitchen isn’t just limited in size, it’s limited in style too. Food blogger Cara Eisenpress uses cute art and her prettiest canning experiments to add color and interest to her tiny Brooklyn kitchen.

A huge part of keeping a small kitchen tidy is prioritizing belongings. Not everything could fit in her kitchen at first, so the most used items were kept on hand. On the other side of the kitchen, a wall-mounted wine rack and tall bookshelves take advantage of wall space for storage. A small setup seats four people for a casual meal.

From the article:

The $147 million home at 60 Further Lane in East Hampton once belonged to Christopher H. Browne, of the Tweedy, Browne Company value investment firm, and his partner Andrew Gordon. Browne bought the 18-acre property in 1996 according to the New York Times, but because of a deal he struck allowing the seller (Elizabeth Fondaras, widow of Anastassios Fondaras, a former managing director for Stavros Niarchos???s shipping empire) to stay in the home for several summers, Browne focused his efforts on the grounds for several years. As a result, the 18-acre estate has lavish gardens, which you can see in this New York Times slideshow.

Browne and Gordon tore down the old home and replaced it with a modernist property that Gordon designed. But they had very little time to enjoy the property together. Browne died of a heart attack in 2009. He left most of his estate to Gordon, and a family fight reportedly ensued over the will. Gordon died last fall, and the family began to shop the house around.

Hamptons brokers tell FORBES the sale took place without the aid of a broker.

From the article:

That???s the thing about home improvement projects???once you get started, you find many other areas that need your attention. But with the weather being that perfect blend of not too hot and not too cold, there???s nowhere I???d rather be than outdoors!

It all started when I looked around my yard earlier this month and realized that although the flowers were blooming and the sun was shining, my outdoor space wasn???t quite ready for spring. I knew it was time for an outdoor makeover, and over the past week, this endeavor has included everything from xeriscaping to affordable DIY projects. As promised, today I???m sharing a few snapshots of the process.

Reviving Potted Plants
Potted-plants-get-a-makeover
I spent as much time reviving my planters this week as I did xeriscaping, trimming and filling in the greenery gaps. Winter was hard on my potted plants, even though I brought them inside from time to time and covered them during cold snaps. So when it came to getting my yard ready for spring, some plants just had to go. Like the dead fern near my front door. Time to refill the planter with a fresh fern selection!
